Continuing Education Opportunities

It is Multi-District workshop season as well as the Spring Workshop for the Southwest Chapter of PaLA. These sessions will be affordable and conveniently located. Don't forget, library directors are required to have 8 hours of continuing education per year. Part-time employees (20+ hours/week) are required to have 6 hours every two years. With the changing times and challenges we are facing, getting outside the building for a breath of "fresh air" can help rejuvenate you/your staff.

April 21: Pittsburgh's Multi-District, featured speaker Karen Hyman: Reinventing the Customer Centered Library: 12 questions for 2009. Karen is also the Keynote Speaker for this year's Trustee/Friends Institute. She is a real "treat"--if you haven't seen her, you must.

April 30: Developing a Fundraising Plan, Dee Jay Oshry, Citizens Library, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m., MP3 downstairs. This session is being held in the evening in order to accomodate working board members. This session is open to library directors, board members, Friends, development committee members...

May 1: Multi-District Workshop, Washington/Monessen, 9:30 - 3:30, Belle Vernon Ponderosa. Topic: Using New Technologies in your library. Speaker: Janie Hermann, Program Coordinator/Technology Training Librarian, Princeton Public Library, NJ.
