Has anyone else seen this commercial?!?
You can text your questions to "542542" and for .99 cents get an answer.
Yikes! So, instead of calling the public library or logging onto AskHere PA you can pay for an "instant answer".
Guess it really is time for us to start "thinking outside" the box.
Everyone, and I mean everyone--from Avella to Peters, needs to be collecting email addresses and cell phone numbers. No more--"well, not everyone has one"...
The Internet is also great for "wake-up calls":
Did you see the photo of Michelle Obama working the soup kitchen getting her photo taken by a "homeless" person using his cell phone! Yes, really!
So, yes, everyone has either an email address or a cell phone! Even in my little hometown of Waynesburg. Everyone is on the cell phone, either walking down the street or driving.
Then, there is Library Elf. It is a voluntary, free reminder that your library books are due. Library customers are voluntarily giving up some of their privacy for convenience.
So, please, get your staff collecting both cell phone numbers and email addresses. We need to start rethinking how we communicate with our customers...e-blasts, text messages...Library Elf...
